However, in other games, there's a significant improvement of up to 28%—in line with AMD's earlier claim of a 26% boost in 1080p titles.

It seems likely that they’re winding down sales of these models to avoid direct competition with the new 9800X3D. While the 7800X3D may still offer better frames per dollar, the 9800X3D unquestionably delivers the best overall performance of any CPU available.
The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D stands out as both the fastest and highly efficient gaming processor. With its higher clock speeds, it’s also the most powerful eight-core processor in AMD’s lineup for various applications—outperforming even the Ryzen 7 9700X with its 105W TDP. Buyers of this X3D CPU no longer face any performance compromises in applications; instead, they benefit from enhanced processing power.
If there’s any downside to the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D beyond its modest power consumption, it’s the high price for an eight-core processor. With an MSRP of €529, it’s certainly an expensive option, although the premium over its predecessor is limited—the Ryzen 7 7800X3D launched at €499 in spring 2023 and is currently available starting from €467.
However, both points overlook that this processor was once much cheaper: in spring 2024, the 7800X3D was available for €350 or less for several weeks. AMD has since significantly raised the price level of its 8-core X3D platform by the end of 2024.
